Design + Build Story
Located in Houston’s prestigious River Oaks neighborhood, this residence, originally designed by architect John Staub, underwent a thoughtful transformation that balanced architectural heritage with modern luxury. Water Line Designs was selected to design and build a custom pool and water feature environments that would harmonize with the estate’s classical structure while introducing a distinctly contemporary aesthetic.
The centerpiece of the project is a custom geometric pool enhanced by a flagstone fountain wall with four basins cascading gracefully through individual spillways into the main body of water. This multi-level design creates a rhythmic movement of sound and reflection, enriching the courtyard atmosphere and providing a continuous visual link across the outdoor space.
Beyond the pool, a sculptural serpentine fountain was created just outside the main living room windows. Its fluid, curving form contrasts elegantly with the home’s linear geometry, introducing an artistic gesture that draws the eye and softens the architectural composition.
Every element of the design was developed to honor the property’s legacy while elevating its outdoor experience through craftsmanship and precision detailing. The result is a serene, artful environment where water, form, and history converge, an example of how Water Line Designs continues to merge timeless architecture with contemporary outdoor living in River Oaks.
